Primary 1’s Farm Yard Tales

23rd Jun 2021

Old MacDonald had a farm, Eieio!

We had an exciting visit to the St Jame’s Community Farm.

We met a friendly farmer who introduced us to his farm animal friends.

Together, we held a turtle and tortoise.  We gently petted a duck and chicken.  We also fed a Shetland pony, goat and sheep with our hands.

We explored the fruit and vegetable patch where we saw potatoes, lettuce, carrots, tomatoes and strawberries.  Here, we shared our growing knowledge reminding the farmer that both sun and water are needed to help these plants to grow big and strong.

We also got to decorate some farm yard pictures sounding across our words to write the animal’s names.

At the end of our visit, the kind farmer gave us an animal mask to take home.

We had a really good time at the farm.  Some of us want to be farmers when we grow up to care and look after animals.
